What will your typical day look like?
As a Tax Manager, you will manage a portfolio of key clients, primarily in the investment management industry, ensuring exceptional quality and service throughout the tax engagement cycle. You stay up-to-date with state tax regulations, embrace emerging technologies, and adapt to innovative ways of working.
You can expect to:
- Lead teams and tax engagements, including developing tax strategies, managing the preparing and filing of state tax returns ensuring compliance with US tax regulations, and liaising with key client staff.
- Train teams on tax tools, new technologies, and state tax regulations.
- Develop and coach your tax team, taking pride in your work and leading the team with integrity.
- Engage in well-being and sustainability initiatives, a variety of social and community events, and other programs aligned with Deloitte's Shared Values
About the team
Our Tax services make an impact that matters by helping clients navigate complex rules, make informed decisions, and fulfill their compliance obligations around the world, enabling tax and legal systems to work for the collective benefit of economies and society. Our US Tax team serves a portfolio of investment management clients providing US tax reporting and consulting services for both US and non-US partnerships and corporations.
You are someone with:
- A bachelor’s degree preferably in a related field; or equivalent qualification (i.e., ACCA)
- A relevant professional designation that allows for practice before the US IRS (e.g., US state-licensed CPA or attorney or IRS Enrolled Agent).
- A minimum of 5 years’ significant relevant experience with preparation and review of US state tax compliance and tax filings, including planning and evaluating appropriateness of state tax return filing positions.
- Experience providing tax services within a professional services firm or large-scale law or public accounting organization.
- Knowledge of US international tax compliance and US internal revenue code.
- Experience in US taxation of investment products and services, including hedge funds
- Project management skills; including experience leading engagements, or components of engagements, including mentoring, coaching, and reviewing work of junior team members.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in accounting, taxation, or a related field, and/or JD/LLM (taxation focus) from a US accredited institution
